Purpose: The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation’s premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Activities and pursuits: NHS is a service organization. It participates in activities that promote scholarship, affords members the opportunity to serve in a leadership capacity, provides service to the community, and models positive ethical and civic standards. Specific activities have included fundraising to support academic scholarships, supporting local food pantries, support for shut-ins and the elderly, tutoring services, talent reviews, and other civic- and community-oriented activities.

Meeting times: Meetings will be held throughout the year and announced by NHS officers.

Other information: Juniors and Seniors who have met high academic standards will be invited to submit an application for admission. The Faculty Council, appointed by the principal, selects new membership. Mt. Ararat NHS is governed by the rules and regulations established by the National Council of National Honor Societies under the auspices of the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
